Baritone dulcimers are tuned lower than a standard dulcimer - usually AEA, which gives you big, bold tone that some people find better for singing accompaniment. Others like baritones just to add to the tonal possiblities of their dulcimer playing. In any case, baritone dulcimers have become extremely popular in the last few years. This one has a bookmatched Ambrosia Maple top with bookmatched Walnut back and sides. The layered fretboard is Walnut with an Ambrosia Maple center section that perfectly compliments the top. The scale lenght is 26" and inclues 18 nickel silver frets including a 1½, 6½, 8½ and 13½ frets for a full two octave range. The inlays are colorful Abalone and the Grover Sta-Tite tuners have a 14:1 gear ratio and lifetime manufacturer's warranty. The nut and bridge are Ebony for a warm tone and great durability. It is equipped with an internal piezo pickup for connection to an amplifier, sound effects pedals or sound system using a standard 1/4" guitar cord. Matching strap buttons are already installed and it is setup to use either loop or ball end strings. If you find you are at a standstill or in a rut in your dulcimer playing... then this baritone may be just the instrument to get the creative energy flowing again.
